Getting Started
Flyra lets you hold your money in USD and watch it grow with rewards that accrue daily and pay out monthly. On top of that, you can send and receive money globally in seconds, all backed by USD stablecoins to keep things fast, transparent, and accessible.
With Flyra, you can:
• Hold your balance in USD and grow it automatically with Flyra Boost
• Send money to friends and family in seconds
• Withdraw to a local bank account in supported countries
• Spend anywhere Visa is accepted with the Flyra Card and earn cashback
• Earn a bonus when you invite friends
Unlike other services, Flyra empowers everyone, senders and recipients alike. Anyone with a Flyra wallet can hold their balance, send to others, get a card, withdraw, or spend directly.
Download the Flyra app from the App Store or Google Play and sign up with your phone number, Google, or Apple credentials. Then complete identity verification to activate your account.
Verification usually takes just a few minutes. To verify your identity, you'll need:
• Your current address
• An ID number: Social Security Number (SSN) for US users, or Bank Verification Number (BVN) for Nigerian users
• A photo ID. Nigerian users can use a passport, driver's license, or NIN slip
In some cases, we may also ask for additional details to keep your account safe.
Flyra verifies your identity using government-issued IDs and additional checks to keep you safe and to comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
Sometimes we can't verify your information based on what was submitted. This could be due to mismatched details, unclear documents, or additional checks we couldn't complete.
If you believe this happened in error, please reach out to us at support@flyra.com.
Your balance is held as USDB, a stablecoin issued by Bridge (a Stripe company) and backed 1:1 by the US dollar. This means 1 USDB always equals 1 USD.
When you send, spend, or withdraw, the value of your balance never changes. For example, if you withdraw $100 from your Flyra wallet, you receive $100 in your bank account (in your local currency at the current exchange rate).
Flyra is currently available in the US and Nigeria, with more countries coming soon.
1 USDB always equals 1 USD. Your Flyra wallet holds USDB, a stablecoin backed by the US dollar so the value of your balance never changes.
Unlike a traditional bank account, your balance isn't deposited with a bank. It's held in a regulated digital wallet. You can send, receive, and withdraw your balance at any time.
Identity & Privacy
Flyra is required to collect a government ID number to comply with regulatory requirements for money movement. US users provide a Social Security Number (SSN). Nigerian users provide a Bank Verification Number (BVN).
You only need to provide this once. It's saved securely for all future transactions.
Flyra collects only the information needed to verify your identity, comply with regulatory requirements, and keep your account secure. Your personal information is stored securely and is never shared without your consent.
For full details on what we collect and how it's used, see our Privacy Notice.
Grow
Your USDB balance automatically grows while it sits in your Flyra wallet. This is called Flyra Boost.
Rewards accrue daily and are paid monthly to your wallet. You can track your rewards on the home screen and in the Grow section of the app.
Send money to someone new on Flyra, and we'll pay both of you a referral bonus once they sign up.
There's no minimum send amount and no limit on how many people you can invite. To get started, tap the referral card on your home screen.
Yes. You earn cashback on eligible purchases made with your Flyra Card.
Cashback is paid monthly to your Flyra wallet.
Deposit
You can add money directly from your bank account or with your debit card.
US users: Tap Deposit on the home screen and choose your payment method. If you don't have one linked yet, you'll be asked to add it first. Enter the amount, review the total including any fees, and confirm.
Nigeria users: See the next FAQ for the Nigeria steps.
If you face any issues, reach out to us at support@flyra.com.
Tap Deposit on the home screen and enter the amount you want to add in NGN. You'll see your exchange rate, fees, and how much USDB you'll receive. Tap Continue to confirm.
Once you confirm, your rate locks for 4 hours and Flyra shows you the bank details to transfer to (bank name, account number, account name). Open your banking app and transfer the exact amount shown to those details. You don't need to stay on the screen, your wallet will update automatically once we receive your funds.
A few important things:
• Your rate locks at the confirmation step, not when you start the request
• You must complete the transfer from your banking app within 4 hours
• If you don't transfer in time, the request is cancelled and the rate expires. Your money stays in your bank account, so nothing is lost. You can start a new request at the current rate at any time.
Bank transfers can occasionally take a little longer depending on your bank.
Make sure you:
• Transferred the exact amount shown in the app
• Sent to the correct virtual account details
• Completed the transfer within the 4-hour window
If your wallet hasn't been credited within a few hours, contact us at support@flyra.com. If you have your transaction ID, please include it.
This usually happens for one of these reasons:
US users:
• Your bank or debit card issuer declined the transaction
• Your bank returned the funds (this can happen if account details don't match, or if the bank blocks the transaction for its own reasons)
• The details you shared with us didn't match your bank or card on file
Nigeria users:
• The amount you sent didn't match what was shown in the app
• The name on your bank account didn't match what we have on file
• The transfer wasn't completed within the 4-hour window
If you need help, reach out via Report an Issue in the app or email support@flyra.com. If you have your transaction ID, please include it.
Yes. When you confirm a send or deposit transaction, the exchange rate is locked at that moment. You'll see your locked rate before you confirm, and it stays valid until your transaction is completed.
If the 4-hour window expires before your funds are received, the transaction is cancelled and the locked rate is no longer valid.
You can start a new request at any time at the current rate. No money is lost, and your local bank account is unaffected.
Send & Receive
Tap Send on the home screen. You can pick from your contacts or add a new recipient.
If you're adding someone new, enter their name, phone number, email, and where they live. Then choose how to send:
• Flyra Wallet: sent instantly to their Flyra account
• Bank transfer: sent to their bank account (available in select countries)
Once the recipient is added, enter the amount, review the details, and send.
Wallet transfers go directly to your recipient's Flyra wallet and arrive almost instantly. No currency conversion happens, and the amount is transferred as USDB.
Bank transfers go to your recipient's local bank account and convert USDB to their local currency (for example, NGN). Bank transfers take longer, and exchange rates and fees apply.
In both cases, you'll always see any applicable fees before you confirm.
Most transfers arrive in under 5 minutes. If you want the fastest option, send to your recipient's Flyra wallet. They'll get the money almost immediately.
For bank transfers, timing depends on the country, bank, and any required checks. For Nigeria, transfers are typically completed within the same day.
Yes. Once you send, we'll invite your recipient by email and SMS to join Flyra so they can claim the funds.
Your recipient will need to sign up using the same phone number you entered. If they don't sign up within 14 days, the transfer is automatically cancelled and the money is returned to your wallet.
Bonus: when they sign up, you both earn a referral bonus.
If you have any questions, contact us via Report an Issue in the app or at support@flyra.com.
If a bank transfer fails, the funds are returned to your Flyra wallet and you'll see a notification in the app.
You can then retry the transfer or send to your recipient's Flyra wallet instead.
For help, contact us at support@flyra.com. If you have your transaction ID, please include it.
Share the phone number you used to create your Flyra wallet with the sender. Once they send the money, it'll appear in your wallet within minutes, and we'll send you an email confirmation.
If you don't have an account yet and someone sent money to you: create a Flyra account using the same phone number the sender used, or follow the link in the email or SMS invitation we sent you. Once your wallet is active, the money will appear in your wallet ready for you.
If the funds still haven't arrived after your account is set up, contact us at support@flyra.com with the sender's name and the approximate amount.
Withdraw
You can withdraw your balance to a local bank account in supported countries.
Tap Cash Out on the home screen and choose your bank account. If you haven't added one yet, you'll be asked to link it first.
Enter the amount, review the total including any fees, and confirm.
Nigeria users: For your first withdrawal, you'll be asked to enter your NIN if it's not already on file, and to link your Nigerian bank account. After that, future withdrawals just need an amount and confirmation. Funds are sent to your bank in NGN.
Depending on the country and local banking system, it may take some time for the funds to reach your bank.
Most withdrawals arrive within the same day, but in some cases it can take up to 3-5 business days.
If you haven't received your funds within that time, contact us at support@flyra.com.
Flyra Card
The Flyra Card is a Visa debit card linked to your Flyra wallet. You can spend your funds anywhere Visa is accepted (in stores, online, and internationally) and earn cashback on eligible purchases.
The Flyra Card is issued by Lead Bank, Member FDIC.
If you have any questions about the Flyra Card, please reach out to us at support@flyra.com.
Your wallet balance is available on your card. When you make a purchase, the amount is deducted instantly from your wallet.
This usually means we couldn't approve the application based on our checks.
Common reasons include:
• Details didn't match our records
• You don't meet eligibility requirements yet
• Additional verification is needed
• Our banking partner couldn't approve the request
If you believe this happened in error, please reach out to us at support@flyra.com.
This usually happens if:
• You don't have enough balance
• The merchant isn't supported
• A security check was triggered
For additional details, please reach out to us at support@flyra.com.
Your available spend is limited to the balance in your Flyra wallet. Additional limits may apply based on your account verification level.
For details on your specific limits, contact us at support@flyra.com.
Go to the Cards tab at the bottom of the app, tap Manage, and toggle Freeze Card on. To unfreeze, toggle it back off.
Freezing your card prevents any new purchases but does not affect your wallet balance.
After your card application is approved, it may take a few minutes to appear in the app. Please wait and refresh.
If your card still isn't showing after 24 hours, contact us at support@flyra.com.
Transactions
Tap Transactions at the bottom of the app. You'll see a full history of your sends, receives, deposits, withdrawals, and card transactions.
Tap any transaction for a detailed breakdown.
Pending means the transaction has been initiated but isn't fully processed yet. For bank transfers, this is normal while funds are in transit.
Most transactions clear within the same day. If a transaction stays pending for more than 3 business days, contact us at support@flyra.com. If you have your transaction ID, please include it.
Transactions can fail for several reasons:
• Insufficient wallet balance
• Bank declined the transfer
• The 4-hour deposit window expired (Nigeria deposits)
• A compliance check wasn't passed
Check the error message in the app for details. If you need help, contact us at support@flyra.com. If you have your transaction ID, please include it.
Payment Methods
Go to Profile and tap Payment Methods. You'll see the options available for your country.
To add a method, choose Add card or Add bank account and follow the steps.
To remove one, tap the menu next to your saved payment method and select delete.
Account & Security
If you lose your phone or think someone has access to it:
1. Freeze your Flyra Card. You can do this from any device by signing into Flyra and going to Cards > Manage > Freeze Card.
2. Email us at support@flyra.com so we can help secure your account.
Log in to the Flyra app and go to Profile > Privacy & Security > Close Account. Follow the steps to complete the process.
If you have questions or need help, contact us at support@flyra.com.
Fees
Sometimes. Fees may apply when you add money, send money, withdraw, or spend with your card. You'll see the applicable fee before you confirm a transaction.
It depends on how you send and where it's going.
You'll see the full breakdown, including fees and total, before you confirm. This lets you review the cost before completing the transfer.
Yes, in some cases. Fees can vary based on the destination and payout method. For example, withdrawing to a bank in certain countries may include a fee.
You'll see the fee before confirming.
Most Flyra Card transactions are free.
• Domestic purchases: Free
• Foreign transactions: 1.5% of each transaction
A foreign transaction is any purchase made outside your country of residence, including online purchases from merchants based in another country, even if the price is shown in US dollars.
You'll see any applicable fees on your transaction receipt after the purchase completes.
